FORMULA 400 NEWS

Welcome to Round 1 in beautiful sunny Mt. Gambier.  A great weekend, no rain and a good field of 20 plus riders.  The start of the year had some very nicely presented bikes, great to see Scott Emanuelsson and Richard Marrocchini back in the field and new faces, Nicholas Leith, Josh Willingham, Adam Nicholson, Jason Light and David Nunn all having a go in the 400’s.

Very keen racing on Saturday saw Jack Fox, Tim, Glenn, Marro and Jason fighting top spots.  The Fox team was plagued with engine problems and as luck would have it, Jack Halliday had a tumble on his 600 and was unable to ride the 400 and between him and Tim they lent two bikes to the Foxes – it doesn’t get any friendlier than that.

Sunday was another great day, Jack Fox and Glenn Kettle were on fire and Marro had his own little fire going after spending the night out with Jack who was trying to anaethetise broken ribs – tough gig Rich!  While the ‘A’ graders set a very good pace for the whole weekend the ‘C’ graders were not that far off.  Jason on his new Kawasaki, Adam Stockdale on his reliable CBR and of course ‘The Warrior’ #96 on his Kawasaki had some very close racing.

The first round Hartwell Championship 2010 has been one of the most successful starts to the season, garages sold out within a week, over 170+ entries made for some great racing on the weekend in South Australia.  Kelly Spargo was the Clerk of Course for the meeting who did a great job.  Many people started the weekend on Thursday with a Racing School held at Mac Park, whilst some just made the trip over for Friday practice and racing Saturday and Sunday.  Well done to all the officials and riders for making this a memorable event, the introduction of live timing was well received and proved a great addition for quicker results and grid positions.

All Round points for the 2010 season can be found at computime. These points will be updated on this site in the coming weeks.

Riders please note, now that we are using electronic timing it is very important that you enter race meetings by the ‘close of business’ cut off date.  The reason is, that as we have to order transmitters for the meeting we will be using the cut off date to determine the quantity we need.  Therefore, if you enter late you run the high risk of not being allocated a transmitter for the weekend and as a result not being timed.  This also causes problems in the timing and lapscoring area, all of which we would like to avoid.  We will be imposing a greater $ penalty for late entries to try and avoid these issues and the penalty will be imposed.

It is far better to lodge your entry form early, don’t wait for reasons such as ‘I don’t have my licence number’, we can very easily fill this in later.  It is much easier to withdraw an entry than it is to add an entry after the cut off date.

Phone Entries:  Please only use this if you are cutting it fine.  There is usually plenty of time to download or have an entry form sent out, to get it in in time.
